School of Alberta Ballet
The School of Alberta Ballet is one of Canada’s leading professional dance schools and the official training centre for Alberta Ballet. Under the direction of Artistic Director Edmund Stripe, the School’s Professional Division is a full-time dance and academic training program for students in grades 7 through 12, with an exclusive, dance-only option for those in grades 5 and 6. Launching in September 2015, a Dedicated Contemporary Dance Stream will be offered to students in grades 11 and 12 who wish to place more of their training focus on this dance genre. With facilities in the heart of downtown Calgary and a residence for out of province and international students, the School of Alberta Ballet provides each student with the dance, life and academic skills required to launch a professional career. Admission to the Professional Division program is strictly talent-based, and through the School’s International Audition Tour. Dance with the best at the School of Alberta Ballet.

Principal's Message: It is my pleasure to welcome you to the School of Alberta Ballet.
With the continuous evolution and expansion of the school in both Calgary and Edmonton, we are delighted to offer an even greater variety of opportunities to enjoy dance, whether on a recreational basis in the Open Division or through the full-time Professional Division program.
Whilst continuing the first class standard of classical ballet training that has been praised throughout Canada and around the world, the 2015-2016 season will see a stronger emphasis on contemporary dance with the launch of our new Dedicated Contemporary Dance Stream. The School of Alberta Ballet will be the first and only major dance school in Canada to offer separate fields of training in both genres.
As western Canada's leading professional dance school, the School of Alberta Ballet endeavours to produce excellently trained, versatile dancers, while simultanetously offering a uniquely designed academic program for students in grades 7 through 12.
Students experience a personalized learning environment that caters to their unique backgrounds, talents and abilities. Small class sizes foster individualized attention for each student. We have set high standards for academic achievement and our dedicated teaching staff are committed to supporting all students as they strive to achieve their personal best.
Students not only graduate from the School of Alberta Ballet equipped with the technique and skills demanded of today’s professional dance companies, but also with the qualifications necessary to enter a post-secondary institution of their choice, or to pursue an alternate career after dance.
I must thank our sponsors and donors whose continuous support and generosity ensure that the quality of our training and the magic of our art form continue to thrive at the school.
Once again, welcome to the School of Alberta Ballet.
- Edmund Stripe, Artistic Director
